Dr. Vongai Nyahunzvi

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Vongai Nyahunzvi is the CEO of the Alliance For Women and Girls (AFWAG), an initiative born out of her personal experience growing up in a patriarchal society.

With over 20 years of diverse leadership experience across corporate, government, and non-profit sectors, she has committed herself to leveling the playing field for women and girls.

This passion is deeply institutionalized in AFWAG, aimed at elevating silenced voices and breaking systemic barriers. Beyond AFWAG, Vongai serves as the Chief Network Officer and Head of the Africa Region at Teach For All and prior to that has run her own global leadership consultancy for eight years.

An acknowledged thought leader, she has authored five books on leadership and created platforms such as a monthly CEO roundtable and the Europe Leadership Awards.

For Vongai, empowering women and girls isn’t just a professional pursuit but a deeply personal mission, guiding all her multifaceted endeavors.

Doris Kiogora

Operations

Doris Kiogora brings a decade of experience in nonprofit management with a profound commitment to social change.

Prior to her role at AFWAG, Doris served as the Head of Strategy and Operations at PACEmaker International (PACE), where she was responsible for a myriad of operational functions, including strategy development, fundraising, financial management, human resources, IT, and regulatory compliance, across multiple programming regions in Kenya and Malawi.

Further underscoring her professional pedigree, Doris has also been a lead in the Learner-centred Thematic group at the Regional Education Learning Initiative (RELI), a Metis fellow and mentor, and a member of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA). Her academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kampala University and an MBA from Daystar University.

In her current role at AFWAG, Doris provides comprehensive oversight on all operational and cultural matters.

Her philosophy centres around the idea that leadership is not merely about managing resources and processes efficiently, but also about inspiring a culture of commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Her holistic approach ensures that AFWAG isn’t simply well-managed, but is also deeply committed to creating meaningful change in the realm of gender equality.

Abba Kidenda

Head of Network Growth and Engagement

Abba has a passion for women’s empowerment, education, and community development. Her diverse background in marketing and development includes significant experience in multinational brand management, particularly with the Coca-Cola company, where she played a pivotal role in executing the Kenya brand strategy.

Her expertise extends to coordinating sustainability programs and managing partnerships with a focus on women and youth economic empowerment across Eurasia and Africa. In her most recent role as the Deputy Director of Program Implementation at Educate!, she led the design and launch of the Skill Up program, impacting over 4,000 out-of-school Youth in Kenya.

Abba is thrilled about AFWAG’s commitment to supporting organizations dedicated to making a positive impact on women and girls across the continent as she firmly believes that investing in women, leadership, and education serves as a pivotal catalyst for sustainable growth.

As the Head of Network Growth and Engagement, she is eager to leverage her experience in fostering collaborative environments and creating sustainable programs to further AFWAG’s mission of advancing women and girls’ well-being across diverse communities.

Vimbai Lole

Public Affairs Manager

Vimbai has over 7 years of experience in communications and marketing, specialising in strategic communication, brand management, and both online and offline marketing. Before joining The Alliance for Women and Girls (AFWAG), she was in a Marketing and Communications role at Steward Bank in Zimbabwe.

She’s passionate about promoting equality for women and enhancing brand images. Vimbai excels in crafting clear messages using audience-focused strategies. Her background in customer experience, a BSc Honors Degree in Psychology and an MSc Degree in Marketing give her a unique perspective on connecting with audiences.

She believes women and girls are potent forces for change who deserve equal opportunities. At AFWAG, Vimbai is responsible for sharing the organisation’s story through comprehensive marketing, communication, public relations, and content production efforts, including newsletters, social media, and events.

Her ultimate goal is to bolster AFWAG’s brand and magnify its influence throughout Africa.

Skastina Bonareri Omboga

Operations Associate

Skastina boasts a wealth of experience in administration and operations, having previously held pivotal roles at Twiga Foods, MPESA Foundation Academy, and Bonge Air Services Limited.

Prior to joining AFWAG, she amassed valuable insights and skills, making her a valuable asset to our team. In her role at AFWAG as Operations Associate, Skastina leverages her knowledge and proficiency to foster partnerships with diverse stakeholders and organizations.

Her expertise extends to detailed database management, a critical aspect of our commitment to effective and informed decision-making.

Committed to contributing to initiatives that create tangible and positive impacts on the lives of women and girls, Skastina is dedicated to streamlining and optimizing operational processes.

Her focus revolves around enhancing efficiency, resource management, and providing unwavering support to the team, all aimed at achieving our collective goals of empowering women across the continent.
