Program Overview
Her Africa Ubuntu CEO Leadership Fellowship is a six-month intensive program for CEOs, founders and individuals leading social enterprises in Africa advancing issues affecting women and girls in low-income contexts across Africa.The program endeavours to equip them with the essential skills, insights, and networks needed for adeptly tackling the unique challenges and seizing the opportunities associated with directing organisations dedicated to social impact.
Who Can Apply?
- CEOs of Social Enterprises: Designed for active CEOs of social enterprises who are instrumental in decision-making and steering the strategy and operations of organisations working toward social good.
- Founders Transitioning to CEO Roles: It is also for founders who have been building their social enterprises and are now transitioning to a more formal leadership role as a CEO.
The program integrates practical training, mentorship, collaborative learning, and access to a wealth of resources and networks, fostering an environment where participants can cultivate effectiveness and make a lasting positive difference in society. Participants learn about the significance of self-perception, positioning, and the impression they make on others.

One-Week Intensive Residential Program. A kick-off week with intensive learning, team building, and networking to acquaint participants with core concepts.
Monthly Workshops and Webinars. Regular workshops and webinars focused on various aspects of social enterprise leadership.
Ongoing Online Content and Resources. Access to an online platform with readings, videos, case studies, and tools. Participants can also engage in forums and discussions.
Networking Events. Opportunities to connect with a wider community of social enterprise leaders and stakeholders.
Final Capstone Project and Presentation. Participants will address a real-life challenge or opportunity in the social enterprise sector and present their projects to a panel of experts.
Application and Selection Process
The Her Africa CEO Leadership Program is an exclusive initiative aimed at leaders spearheading social enterprises focusing on the advancement of women and girls in Africa. The program seeks to arm these leaders with critical skills, knowledge, and networks that will enable them to efficiently navigate and capitalise on opportunities, as well as overcome challenges in leading organisations committed to social change. Please note that only nominated candidates will be considered for admission into the program. The nominators are required to fill out an online Nomination Form for the prospective candidate during the nomination window period, available on the AFWAG website.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be in a leadership position within a social enterprise that is actively addressing issues affecting women and girls in Africa.
Must be either a serving CEO of a social enterprise or a founder who is transitioning to a CEO role.
Must demonstrate commitment to adhering to the core values as outlined on the AFWAG website.
