The Alliance For Women and Girls Incubator presents an opportunity to catalyse change within low and middle-income communities in Africa by supporting social enterprises committed to improving the livelihoods of women and girls. Through financial support, capacity building, mentorship, and technical assistance, AFWAG will play a pivotal role in fostering sustainable development and gender equality.
AFWAG is not just an incubator, but a catalyst for change that hopes to play a significant role in the empowerment of women and girls in low and middle-income African communities. Through comprehensive support and empowerment of social entrepreneurs, AFWAG aspires to ignite a wave of sustainable development that resonates beyond individual enterprises and brings about transformative change in the lives of women and girls across the continent.
Who Can Apply?
Social entrepreneurs with a focus on issues affecting women and girls in low to middle-income African communities. Applicable to idea stage or early stage social enterprises in operation for less than five years with an annual budget under $300,000.

Selection Criteria
To identify social enterprises that have the greatest potential for positive impact on the lives of women and girls in low and middle-income African communities, the Alliance For Women And Girls will use the following criteria.
- Alignment: The social enterprise must tackle challenges faced by women and girls in low/middle-income Africa, promoting sustainable development and gender equality.
- Social Impact: Demonstrate the enterprise’s potential to address critical issues like education, health, economic opportunity, or gender-based violence.
- Innovation: Present a unique approach to solving these challenges, differentiating it from existing initiatives.
- Market Understanding: Show a strong grasp of the target community and a well-defined strategy for reaching and benefiting women and girls.
- Sustainability & Scalability: Outline the potential for expanding services/products or geographic reach.
- Capacity Building Needs: Specify the necessary capacity building and technical assistance to enhance the enterprise’s effectiveness.
- References & Past Performance: Provide positive references reflecting commitment, experience, and potential for impact. Any past achievements related to gender equality, social entrepreneurship, or community development are advantageous.
